QuestionCleaning bucketI just bought this, and I can't figure out how to take the bucket top off so I can clean the inside. It's getting some kind of stain from the air in my basement and I'd like to clean it but can't see how it works. Anybody know how to get the plastic top piece off?

- Answer After removing the bucket from the dehumidifier, do the following: - Move the handle to the up position to align the notches with the holes in the plastic - push the handle to one side and push the handle notches through the plastic holder on the other side. You will need to push the holder carefully not to break it. Once through, you can remove the other side of the handle. - In the back of the bucket, there are two tabs to lift up. Once you've done that, the top will come off easily.

QuestionWhat does it mean that "installation" is required for this product?

- Answer The only thing I can see regarding extra installation would be connecting the optional drain hose connection and running a line to a floor drain. That accessory is included but is completely optional as you can use the internal reservoir and empty it manually once it is full.

QuestionHi - I need a dehumidifier for an approximately 400 square foot basement - which has your typical musty basement odors. It's a finished basement - which I use for watching TV (it serves as a den). Should I purchase the 30-pint or the 50-pint? Thanks!

- Answer The "pint" size is actually the rate at which water is removed not the capacity. If you have a really damp place, you want a higher "pint" size.

QuestionWill it prevent molds from growing?I've been doing a lot of research about dehumidifier that can prevent molds from growing. I have a room that grows molds during winter. Will this product help me prevent a mold from growing again?

- Answer Any reduction in humidity can help reduce the possibility of mold. You will have to clean up the existing mold using white vinegar or it will just spread.

QuestionWe’ve got a 400 sq ft space that’s 70% humidity at this time of year w/ damp spots on the low parts of the floor. I’ve been running a 30 pt for 12 hours and it’s down to 55% (still w/ damp spots). Should I go 50 pt? 70pt? Or will the 30 pt catch up?

- Answer A 30 pint dehumidifier will cover up to 300 square feet in a moderate or slightly damp area. Whereas a 40-50 will cover 500 square feet. - Answer This dehumidifier is louder than a ceiling fan but definitely no nearly as loud as ac unit - more like white noise.

QuestionRecently my dehumidifier has been completely shutting off. I've read that this model is supposed to run 100% of the time. Is mine ready to die if the fan is stopping? It will start back up when I adjust the arrows up/down.

- Answer It sounds normal to me. I have two of these units. Normally, the unit does not run all of the time, even though it is powered on. You set a threshold %humidity with the arrows. I usuallly set to about 65-70%. The %humidity was about 85-90% humidity in basement before running unit. The unit will cycle on and off, the fan as well. This saves energy. Remember, this is sort of like an air conditioner, you want it to cycle. Hope that helps, we have been very happy with these.

- Answer Height: 24-3/4" Width: 16-1/8" Depth: 11-5/16" I had hoped to be able to install the unit inside of my air return closet for the central air, and use a condensate pump to attach the drain hose for constant operation. Sadly, it was a bit too big. Still a great unit that does the job admirably.
