Questiondoes it show every upcoming street name on top?my old Garmin nuvi 855 only shows the street name you are "driving on" but not the upcoming street names, as my newer model 3790 did, but got stolen recently. This feature is not listed on the Garmin site, so I rely on user experience. Please somebody verify, if available feature. Not talking about the "upcoming point of Interest" feature, only the upcoming street names written on the top (or bottom) Does it show; 1: when go A to B? 2: when just driving with gps on, looking at Map?

- Answer Yes, when using the nüvi 2689LMT it will display both the street you are on and the upcoming intersection. It will do this when you are navigating to a destination or when you are just driving around viewing the map. ~JH

QuestionDoes this GPS rely on cellular or satellite signals at all time for it to function?Garmin nuvi 66LMT does NOT rely on cellular or satellite signal and was wonder the same apply to Garmin - nüvi 2689LMT.

- Answer All of the Garmin nüvi GPS device require satellite signal. This includes the nüvi 66LMT and the nüvi 2689LMT. {CW}

- Answer Yes you can. To do this, touch the "Arrival Time" data field while a route is in progress and select "Destination Distance" instead. The data field will now be changed for this route and future routes. -NM

QuestionIs there enough storage to hold entire US / Canada map?Hi! Does this GPS have enough storage capacity to hold maps of the entire US and Canada simultaneously? Previous GPS's I've owned have only been able to store areas like "Southeast US", "West US", etc. at one time, and I'd have to delete the map and reload a new map if I was traveling somewhere different.

- Answer Yes just took trip from VA to Newfoundland Canada and the entire area was covered ..Even roads in far out places were there. Pleasantly surprised at how well it worked in Newfoundland.

QuestionWhat's the lowest time difference between traffic updates received by this ?I saw one GPS description (don't remember which model) that claimed to get traffic updates every 30 seconds. Does anyone know the spec for this 2689LMT model ? Thx all.

- Answer Traffic data refreshes every 5 minutes with a standard traffic subscription, which is included in the nuvi 2689LMT. Devices packaged with an HD traffic receiver (labeled as LMTHD) can refresh as often as every 30 seconds within designated coverage areas. QuestionIf I enter an address or destination will it show me multiple routes to get there then allow me to pick one? Some devices only give one route.

- Answer After entering a destination, you can select the "Routes" option on the nüvi 2689LMT to choose your route based on fastest time, shortest distance, or less fuel. -LB

- Answer In the display section- scroll down to related items: Language & keyboard, select Voice: American-English Samantha. She is the only option set up with "Garmin Real Direction " feature. She is saying the street name , left or right turn and how many mile ahead. I only use this setting, since figured out.

QuestionDoes Garmin still make the vivid color GPS with latest improvements?We are active seniors that prefer Garmin GPS in 5 & 6 inch screens. We have noticed the newer Gps screen colors are grayed out and the vivid easy to see color (especially at night) is gone. I returned 2 new models for that reason. The demo screen does not look like the actual grayed screen. What model do you recommend that still has the full color screen?

- Answer My planned route is hot pink. Major crossroads are gold in color. Water is blue, parks are green. But the basic background is a tan color.

- Answer The nuvi 2689 includes a map tool called Up Ahead that will search near upcoming exits when you're not in a route. You can use Up Ahead to select specific location types to search for or even a custom search. -JPK

- Answer All the Garmin's show your (estimated) arrival time, so you should know if you are on time, early or late.

QuestionDoes anyone recommend the extended warranty?I'd like to keep the Garmin that I will purchase for a few years. Is purchasing the extended warranty really necessary? Are they that fragile?

- Answer I purchased the extended warranty several years ago when I purchased my first GARMIN which was a NUVI 2505 Series. My GARMIN broke down and stopped functioning for me two weeks before the extended warranty was up. I went to best buy and they replaced my old GARMIN with a NUVI 2689 LMT. It was worth it for me!

- Answer Hello Moa, The nuvi 2689LMT will only provide driving instructions and an off road route to the destination. The off road setting could be used for walking, as it simply provides a straight magenta line to the end point. This mode can be changed in the Navigation settings. You If you are interested in a device that will provide bicycle directions, you may be interested in the Garmin Edge products, which are specifically designed for biking. -NM

- Answer Viewing Weather Alerts Before you can use this feature, you must purchase Advanced Weather service using Smartphone Link. While you are traveling with your device, weather alerts may appear on the map. You can also view a map of weather alerts near your current location or near a selected city. 1 SelectApps>Weather. 2 If necessary, select a city. 3 Select > Weather Alerts.

- Answer No you do not need an iPhone. Directions are based off satellites signals so you do not have to worry about cell tower reception when traveling.

QuestionDirections by Coordinates?Does this Garmin have the capability of directions by coordinates? If I enter latitude and longitude, will Garmin direct me to the location?

- Answer Yes, you can enter the coordinates into the GPS. You simply have to go into the 'Where to?' section and press the 'Coordinates' icon and you will be able to enter in the coordinates. I have used this feature many times as it can be more accurate than addresses out in the country.

QuestionCan this be charged via usb?I know it comes with a car charger, but a mount I'm looking at - Scosche MAG12V - that plugs into the car charger only has connections for a usb cord, not the GPS car charger. Wondering if it will work? Thanks

- Answer Yes it would, but the problem is, the mobile cord is also the antenna for the Traffic feature. Not sure if there is anything special inside the mobile cord for that. My nuvi 255 had a pod on the cord for traffic. I would post the question on Garmin's site.
