How can I use my microwave without having to open and close the door to just get rid of a stupid message saying insert food when food is in it. The idea that I have to open and close it to just get it do what it was built to do is wild. Like what brain dead moron came up with that idea. Add a weight sensor in it instead and if the sensor doesn’t sense weight on the plate then it doesn’t cook. Considering how easy it is to use a weight sensor there shouldn’t be some insert food bs because the latch wasn’t touched recently then never works because I refuse to open and close it just to cook my dam food that’s already in there.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've found that it "wants" you to prove there's actually food in there, if it's been awhile between putting in the food and pressing Start. Just open and close the door again, and your programming will remain for you to Start it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Bcounts- Some microwave models have a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch at 1-800-626-2005 or GEAppliances.com - SUE@GEA
