Yes, the hot top on right side is normal because that is where the "nucotron" is located. The instructions tell you to not have anything on top of the oven when it is in use, probably because of the heat which probably will melt chocolates in a box.

Cooking foods in a microwave oven for an extended period of time can cause heat transfer to not only the internal oven walls and floor, but to the external cabinet, as well. In addition to the heat that is generated outward from the food being cooked, the oven interior lamp and the magnetron tube will also contribute to external heat transfer. This is normal. The exterior case may have symbol (triangle with waves) stamped in the metal. This symbol means "Caution, hot surface". The external temperature may also vary depending on depending on the type of food prepared and the length of the cooking time. We hope this information helps.
