QuestionWhere are the lights? Where do you look to see if on or off or what cycle?

- Answer Hi Dnanc- The dishwasher has "Hidden Controls" located on the top of the door with "Status Light" on the front of the door. The indicator light on the door front will change color to indicate the wash status. During the wash cycle, the indicator light will be amber. QuestionHow long does it take to run a load? My current GE, (2 years old) takes 4 hours! Not acceptable!

- Answer I think if you select like every option it has the cycle may be over two hours. But typically like under a hundred minutes. It has been good so far.

QuestionWe recently bought a lower end GE dishwasher, model GDF530PGMBB and the motor has an awful high-pitched whining noise. Does this higher end model use the same motor, and therefore have the same whining sound?

QuestionReceived our new GE dishwasher yesterday. The end song did not chime at end of cycle, and the logo emblem is different. The model # online is GDT655SSJSS, but ours is #GDT655SSJ4SS - what does the "4" mean?

- Answer Hi WriterMom777- Thanks for choosing GE! When the model is manufactured, the extra number (4) is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This number is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. GE Appliances is changing the appliances badge and is going from a dome shaped to a flat badge. The sounds may be muted. press the Heated Dry or Power Dry button 7 times within 5 seconds. Repeat this process to turn sounds on/off. QuestionOn the slate colored dishwashers, the color listed says tan for one, silver for another and grey. Is there a difference in this slate based on model? Do I have to buy a profile disherwasher to match a profile refrigerator?

- Answer Hello. The white LED does indicate the dishwasher successfully cleaned the load and the cycle is complete. Some of the GDT655 series were produced with a white LED rather than a green LED clean light. There is no functional difference in the dishwasher. The clean light is simply white rather than green. QuestionI have a GE GDT655. I do not know what the display to the left of the Delay Start button is. If no delay, a 221 appeared on display. I thought it might be cycle length in minutes. The countdowns that I checked were much longer than a minute. ??

- Answer Hi Mully - Thanks for choosing GE! This is a 3 digit display cycle countdown. You may notice the dishwasher does not display the same time each time you start a cycle, and sometimes the count down display time jumps around. This is normal. The dishwasher has a soil and temperature sensor that measures wash conditions and automatically adjusts the wash cycle time. Keep in touch! Sue

QuestionI see a lot about the need for an elbow for the water line. Can someone explain this and why it is needed. I am interested in buying this dishwasher but hesitant due to the comments regarding a difficult install / the water line issue. Any feedback helps

- Answer All dishwashers I have seen in the last 20 years have a 90 degree elbow under the dishwasher to allow the bottom of the dishwasher to be as low as possible to maximize dishwasher interior. As long as the elbow is pre-attached to the water line, it’s easy to install. The connection is near the front of the machine just like most.

QuestionCustomers say there are parts missing in the installation kit. Exactly what are those parts? Specific & standard parts to buy in advance. Is the cord standard? I am a single person and have no pluming skills, must be done right first-time.

- Answer Not easy for installing yourself. Need a few parts that I had an installer do. Not a plug n play, someone who knows how to install these is best. I went with a 3rd party installer. Took 2 hrs.
