Hi Jaye - Many top-load washers have a "traditional" agitator. It has spiral fins that turn through the water during the wash cycle. This action moves the water, which in turn moves the clothes down against the agitator into the water and up the sides of the washer. The slow movement is normal and gentle on clothes. You can view a video of the normal sound you may hear during agitation: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=36011 - Thanks for choosing GE. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As with any washer with an agitator, it will agitate slow if it's overloaded.
