Hi Mike - Thanks for considering GE! This unit does not have a cinder block. All current GE Appliances washer tubs move freely within our exclusive auto balance suspension system. It is a rod and spring floating suspension, designed to withstand extensive out of balance situations without the need for an "out of balance" switch. During an out of balance load, the basket is allowed to "float" forward and backward, side to side, and up and down, yet it never touches the floor nor is it even connected to the floor. As a result, the clothes basket can move freely, and this is normal. Also, the balance ring allows smooth operation and prevents the washer from knocking or walking. It allows the washer to go into a full speed spin with a 5 lb. out-of-balance load and the washer remains still. The balance ring is an enclosed plastic container that is partially filled with a salt water solution. The two halves of the balance ring are welded together to form a permanent seal. It is attached to the inner clothes basket and allows the basket to spin smoothly if an uneven load creates an out-of-balance situation. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not seen it do that, but I have only used intermittently for a month. It seems quite heavy, so I did not see the need for cinder blocks. Possibly walking might be caused by the type of floor. A smooth glass surface might be a reason for someone seeing this, but I have a standard basement cement.vinoleum floor and I have not seen such a problem.
