I repair dryers and if you take apart a dryer timer and turn the shaft it is obvious that although you can turn it in either direction it doesnt really like counter clockwise. Going counter clockwise will shorten the life of the timer. If you go past the setting you wish to select just continue around another turn.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi DT- The cycle selector knobs can be turned in either direction. Thanks for choosing GE. Enjoy! SUE@GEA
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes clockwise although it would not be a problem if the dials would be able to do both counter and clock.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After replacing a cracked GE Hotpoint dryer’s cycle selection timer knob I noticed that the unit was loose and dropping down. The male end of the “D” stem could be moved around and up and down by my fingers. After watching a YouTube video, I removed the three Philips screws located at the top of the back of the housing. One at each end and one in the center. Then the cover can be pulled away and shifted to the right as there are three stamped slots at the bottom. Then the mechanisms can be seen. The cycle mechanism was out of its own plastic slots. Looking down at the cycle mechanism. It’s easy to see that it needs to be rotated clockwise to fit back into the slots so when the housing is put back in place, it would make sense to move the dial counterclockwise to ensure that the mechanism in back remains in those slots. My impression is that someone goofed when the plastic channels were designed and molded in the wrong direction. A blatant engineering screwup!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works both directions but I personally being a building maintenance engineer have seen rotary switches come apart from a lot of back and forth use. I stick to clockwise rotation and always slow and smoothly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The washer knob can go either direction- it doesn’t matter. The dryer knob only turns clockwise.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The knobs should be turned clockwise.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Never thought about it but my natural inclination is to turn it clockwise.
