Current appliances have a data port (like an RJ jack or ethernet port) that allows the appliance to be tested or serviced more easily. This port is used by GE Appliances factory technicians to plug in their diagnostic equipment when needed. If the model has optional WiFi Connect capabilities, it is also where you plug in the optional Wifi ConnectPlus module. We are glad you checked. Olga
