Hello md1831 - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. Starting in 2015, many new top-load washers have a lid lock that engages when the washer is either load-sensing before and during the fill, or when it is spinning above 50 RPM. You cannot set the washer to lock for the entire cycle, nor can you prevent the lid from locking during this time. If the washer is paused, the washer will unlock the lid during the spin cycle, but not until the basket has completely coasted down to a stop, for safety reasons. Depending upon the speed at which the washer was spinning when it is paused and also depending upon the size of the load being washed, it could take as much as 3 minutes to coast to a stop and then unlock. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.THE EASIEST WAY TO BE ABLE TO BYPASS A TOPLOAD WASHER THAT LOCKS IS ===== ON THE LID, UNSCREW THE PIECE THAT SITS INSIDE THE BASE WHEN YOU LOWER THE LID ---- AFTER REMOVING, PUT THE PART INTO IT'S HOME ON THE BASE . NOW YOU CAN OPEN AND CLOSE THE LID AT ANY CYCLE.....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yup if you want to see the action the agitator does and how it works ... just open the lid and put your hand in between the tub and lid and activate the lid sensor ... you can see how the washer works ... (not recommended during spin cycle lololo) ... but I wanted to see how this machine worked .... Its way way better than the Samsung we had ... this cleans !!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It cannot be bypassed.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The answers here are contradictory. Does the lid lock during the wash cycle or just the spin cycle?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Lid is only locked during spin mode for safety reasons , it would be silly to bypass has numerous options to reduce spin time , so if need be choose before start
