QuestionIs it recommended to always use the Deep Rinse option when using softener? Below it it says to set when adding fabric softener so I almost feel like it's not optional. Has anyone noticed a difference when using softener and not doing a deep rinse?

- Answer Interesting GE can be bothered patrolling forums of popular stores to answer questions & try to maintain the appearance that they care but when a less than 2 year old washer with a 2 year warranty starts leaking, they can't be bothered to respond to e-mails.

- Answer If you need a quiet washer, this one is not for you. That's the only negative thing about it however. Otherwise, it's an excellent washer.

QuestionHow well does the spin cycle remove the water from clothing at the end of the wash cycle? I am curious as some washers without the traditional agitator seem to have issues removing enough water resulting in much longer drying times in the dryer.

- Answer I have had Samsung washers and dryers in the past and decided to give this GE a try and have been very satisfied. I’ve never had any issues with the rinse/spin and drying times seems much faster than my Samsung sets. Definitely happy with my purchase.

QuestionWe purchased this machine exactly a month ago, and today it won’t spin and when I press to do spin and drain separately or any other wash option, it doesn’t do anything except to blink “LID” on the monitor. It won’t lock the lid either. Help?

- Answer I posted this question and called the GE people, too. However, they thought it had to do with the lid latch. So they just sent us the parts for them, but they weren’t the issue. My husband was feeling the inside of the machine near the lid latch and found that some sort of plug that connects the lid sensor and the machine was disconnected. He put that in more securely and the machine works beautifully. I also thought it had to do with the sensor of the lid and the machine was not communicating. . . So the machine thought the lid was not closed and wouldn’t lock. Whew! I hope this machine last, because we do love when it works. I love that it doesn’t have the agitator tube in the middle and spacious inside. And it cleans the clothes very well. What worries most is how long this sensing thing will last. . . It’s too computerized(?).

QuestionWhy does this site not indicate that this is a "Special Order" item and will take four (4) to six (6) weeks to receive after order? I have been rescheduled now for the third time because this washer is supposedly not available. Buyer beware of lead time.

- Answer I am not a rep or anything. Just bought this myself from a different store. But to answer your question, there is actually some text next to the add-to-cart button that says this product is not available in store. Whenever I see this, I consider the product to be shipped from manufacturer's distribution center (and not seller's warehouse). After you place an order of such product, it will first get shipped to the seller's warehouse. Then seller's logistics will send it your way. There will be an extra logistics/shipping step if you have ordered installation. You are easily looking at 3-4 weeks for a product with no local inventory. In your case, it seems to be taking a week or two longer than what I would expect. (Mine is expected to arrive in two weeks...hopefully).

Any size comforter or draperies will wash properly in our washers as long as the below is followed: ~ The comforter fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. ~ The care label states the fabric is safe for machine washing and drying. - Answer Hi LouiseBLM68- Thanks for choosing GE! You must also choose the Deep Rinse option to release the fabric softener from the dispenser. When selected, the deep rinse cycle ensures clothes are rinsed of soap residue and fabric softener. Keep in touch! Sue

- Answer Hi mynsmeisnoname- Our newer washers are painted with a new process called Armor Guard on the lid and cover. This new paint finish provides a bright, shiny finish, provides excellent coverage and drastically reduces the chance for rust to develop. QuestionHow much water is Deep Fill supposed to put in the tub? I've tried it a few times and it never even got half full and that was pressing and holding the button to get the max Deep Fill.

- Answer Deepfill does not fill up the washer machine at all.....you can't even put a full load of cloths in, it doesn't wash them with a only the bottom of the washer machine having water ...it doesn't even fill up half way. You can't even wash a comforter good. Towels forget it,, you will have to wash those in three different separate loads only can put 5 at a time for them to be throughly clean if u use only deep fill.....I have to get buckets of water to fill the washer machine myself so that my cloths are getting clean. They tried to make this concept like the front loader and it doesn't work. I hate my washer machine with a passion.

The washer will adapt the run time within the cycle and from load to load, so the actual time could be several minutes more or less. - Answer Hi Chunkie - Thanks for choosing GE. We are happy to address your concern about the fabric softener option. DEEP RINSE ensures the fabric softener is released from the dispenser and clothes are rinsed free of detergent, fabric softener and stubborn soils. For fabric softener to dispense, the tub basket must spin. It is this spinning action that releases the liquid fabric softener. On models with a fabric softener rinse option (Deep Rinse), the washer will complete the wash cycle, drain, and then move into a spin cycle to release the softener. After spinning, it will fill for the rinse cycle, which dilutes and distributes the fabric softener through the clothes. Lastly, it will drain and spin at the end of the rinse cycle. If you do not use the Deep Rinse option, the unit will drain, rinse (typically spray rinses), drain and complete a final spin. It does not spin at the start of the rinse cycle to release fabric softener, and performs spray rinses rather than a fill rinse, which do not distribute softener. QuestionIn regards to the temp setting, I understand Hot, Warm and Cold, but what is Colors, Cool and Tap Cold ? When should they be used?

- Answer Colors- Machine adjust the warm and cold to the right mixture. Cool- The washer actually adds a little warm water to the cold. Tap cold- Is actually straight cold water.

QuestionWe purchased this washer and the delivery guy said to use one tide pod for every load no matter the size. Our darks get white stains all over them. What type of detergent are we supposed to be using?

- Answer Hi Lairry- Thanks for choosing GE. We are happy to help. We recommend HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. Place detergent pods in the bottom of the wash basket before adding clothes. Add liquid detergent in the dispenser. Be sure to choose Deep Rinse. When selected, the deep rinse cycle ensures clothes are rinsed of soap residue and fabric softener.
