I know there are no seals. I know there is an extra screw. It seems that the owners manual use of the phrase "apply the foam seals" is both incorrect and misleading. From checking around most other companies don't require you to return to the store to purchase what costs maybe $1. I finally figured out that the self-tapping screw must be to hold the hose vent to the window panel. As once you "lock" that vent in place, it readily slides out on its own. There are two small holes, one on each side of that vent attachment. Once it is is place and "locked" screw one of the self-tapping screws through that hole and into the soft plastic. That will keep the hose attachment in place. Great portable a/c unit. Very poor instructions and no foam seals.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Pete - Thanks for reaching out to and for choosing Model # APCA14YZBW! The product was modified so that the foam strips and screw are no longer needed. However, the manual was not properly updated. We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask. We are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com. Stay cool! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.foam seals not included. You will need to purchase a air conditioning seal kit where window ac units are sold
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There was no foam seals for me either (nor a screw). I used new sponges (very MacGuyverish) which worked to fill any gaps in the window. You can also go to Lowes or any hardware store to purchase foam weather stripping which would satisfy this purpose.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had 3 sizes of foam included, but it was unusable. Whoever packed it, just wound it in a messy bunch and after I unraveled it, the foam was so damaged (permanently smashed & bent in many areas) I had to go out and buy foam. GE has NO QUALITY CONTROL! Instructions are lame and useless. Never buying a GE product again.
