I have figured out the answer to my question above. The LG microwave, model LMC 2075, fits perfectly into my 14 year old trim kit GE JX 1830. It looks like it was made for it! Be sure to retrieve the left side vent piece which is screwed onto the old microwave (part of the trim kit). This piece also screws perfectly onto the Left side of the LG microwave. If someone had told me this, it would have saved me from hours of searching and talking with Best Buy salesmen and chatting online. I do hope my response will be added to the question and answers online.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So I also had the same Microwave give out, and after hours of searching, I found this discussion thread. I bought the LG LMC2075 to go with my trim set JX 1827/1830 after reading this. Just so people know, this is not a "perfect fit." The shape of the bottom of the microwave is different than the GE. After placing it, it was clearly not level and I had to raise the left side of the microwave using some washers to make it level which I'm guessing compromises the sturdiness of the whole thing. So in the end I made it work but it took some doing and I know that it's not quite right. I'd say it is better than buying a new trim kit. Its disappointing that every trim kit the GE rep suggests on here is no longer available for purchase on their site. They seem to be discontinuing them every year to make more money.

I have no idea how you learned that an old GE trim kit would be compatible with a new LG microwave, but I took the plunge and found that indeed my newly purchased LG LMC2075ST is perfectly compatible with my GE JX1830 trim kit. These microwave trim kits are surprisingly expensive and I didn't want to spend time dealing with all the little issues with my cabinet space that would undoubtedly arise if I tried to use a new kit. I did wind up adding some duct tape to better secure and seal the side vent redirection piece that you mentioned; it was not quite flush for me and the glue that had held it in place had lost some strength over the years. The other issue is that my kit has a white exterior which does not go so well with the stainless steel and black plastic of the LMC2075ST, but it looks okay given the other colors in the kitchen. I suppose I could spray paint the trim if I wanted to improve the color scheme. Again, thank you for taking the time to post this!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am looking at Best Buy at the LG LMC2075ST. Has anyone (recently) installed this LG unit using an old GE JX1830SB trim kit? Does it really work?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The info that JX1827/1830 fits the LG LMC2075 microwave models is a godsend. Thanks to Peggy, the original author for putting down her findings. Unfortunately, the older GE and GE Profile microwaves (JES 1855PBH 04) that came with the house are no longer available, I kept looking for a compatible microwave for about a week with no answers. The GE appliance store suggested PEB 7277DLBB and the trim JX7230DLB for replacement. This would have cost over $550 and inserting the new trim etc. Luckily, I came across this post, looked at the measurements of my GE and the LMC2075 - they are very close; one is 1.8 and the other 2 Cu. ft, don't know how that difference came from. Anyway, I just ordered the LG model. There will be grayish color strips on the door (LMC2075BD, $210 with discounts), but it should complement and mesh with the black frame. Appreciate the information for making my life easy.
