- Answer Hello! Thank you for reaching out. The yellow LED is the carbon filter light that indicates if the carbon pre-filter needs to be changed. Carbon filters need to be replaced every 3-6 months. QuestionWe have acquired a Holmes hepa air cleaner. There is a piece of styrofoam over part of the fan. Is that supposed to be removed? Looks like we would have to take apart to do so. Thanks

If you wish to clean the inside of the air purifier, please remove filters and only use a dry, soft cloth to wipe it down. Do not wash filters.
