QuestionIs the screen always backlit?I have heard that this thermostat stays lit up at all times. I want to know if after not using for a certain amount of time, does the backlight turn off?

- Answer The screen will always stay lit unless you turn the screen timeout on and to zero brightness. Mine is programmed to timeout after a minute or so and will go completely dark until touched.

QuestionWhile on a weeks vacation we came home to find the house temperature at over 100 degrees, evidently the batteries in the stat expired. We are noticing paint peeling, cracks at wood moldings and a pet hamster died in the heat, ? Solutions.

- Answer you do need a common wire which does power the unit. if your old thermostat uses battery your common wire still maybe ran if not they give you very detailed instructions and videos on how to make it work. I had the common wire ran but not hooked up went to my ac unit and hooked up my self. if you can watch a simple video its a breeze took about 10 min to install

QuestionDoes thermostat work with Variable speed furnace blowerMy furnace has a variable speed blower. Can this Wifi thermostat control a variable speed blower. In the set up it seems to just ask if it is a single, or two stage blower?

- Answer It should not be a problem since the tstat does not control the variable speed fan but the HVAC fan controller does.

- Answer With the RTH9580WF the frame around the screen is silver. The color of the casing and the wall plate of the thermostat are also gray.

- Answer Hello Dale! Good news! The Honeywell Smart Thermostat does offer a safety net in the case that the Wi-Fi connection to the thermostat is lost. When the connectivity is lost, the thermostat will revert back to the last setting. For example, if the heating is set to 70 degrees F, then the thermostat will remain at this temperature setpoint until manually changed at the thermostat or the Wi-Fi connection is re-established. - Answer I believe it can handle multiple thermostats, i am running two on one app, it can handle a lot of them as told to me by Honeywell

QuestionI'm considering upgrading our thermostat. My question is about fan control. As we enter the fall there are many days when I do not want to run the AC or the Heat but I still want to cycle the fan. Is this possible with this thermostat?

You can also control the fan remotely via the Total Connect Comfort app. Please give us a call at 1-855-733-5465 with any further questions.
