A note in the Owners Manual says NONE of the filters are washable. Of course, you can override the replacement warnings if you don't think your area is particularly high in particulate matter, as long as you have good airflow through the unit. I haven't even gotten to the 3-month pre-filter replacement yet, but I've been vacuuming the unit louvers and pre-filter every few weeks, and will inspect and make decision when the indicator light comes on, but the owners manual specifically says the pre-filter will fill with fibers and dust, impeding airflow, and should be replaced on schedule.

She said the models with water, that do not require you to purchase new filters, are not good for your health. She said the machines put ozone’s into your home, which can lead to respiratory issues.
