  • QuestionWhat is the fill rate?

    Asked by joanah278.

    • Answer Our current top load washers use an advanced fill algorithm enabled by the electronic or rotary-electronic (knob) controls to fill the washer based on time. The supply water pressure must be between 20 PSI - 120 PSI as specified in the washer's Installation Instructions. Be sure your supply water pressure is in this range for correct fill operation.

  • QuestionHotpoint Model HTW240ASK6WS. Loaded and hot or warm water is selected and started with the lid OPEN it dispenses the temperature asked for. As soon as you close the lid,the machine switches to cold water only. Why and how do I fix? I don’t want only Cold!

    Asked by Ryan.

    • Answer Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us. Except for "Tap Cold", all other temperature selections have "target" temperatures designed into the electronics of the washer. The washer is designed to fill with a mix of hot and cold water when HOT or Warm is selected if needed to meet the target temperature. For this reason, it is not recommended that the cold-water supply be turned off during a HOT or Warm water fill. The appliance is designed to fill with a mixture of hot and cold water to save energy and is operating normally when doing so. As mentioned, Tap Cold is the exception. Tap cold water is not adjusted and the temperature of the water will equal what is supplied to your home. Be aware, the effectiveness of detergent is seriously diminished in extremely low water temperatures (below 60°F / 15.6°C.) which could occur during a very cold winter. We hope this is helpful. Kind regards – Vikki@Hotpoint

  • QuestionCan I utilize hot water with this washer because I was told not to use hot water because something is built inside of it I’ve never heard of that before

    Asked by Ricky.

    • Answer Good day, We appreciate you reaching out. It is fine to use hot water with this washer. We don't recommend turning off the cold water inlet when selecting a hot water cycle as some cold water will be mixed in with hot to regulate temperatures. This is due to federal guidelines to reduce energy usage when using hot water. If you have more questions, be sure to let us know. Mike@GEA

  • QuestionI can wash with warm water but when i switch to the hot water option the machine fills with cold. What's wrong and can I correct this problem. At time I just want HOT WATER!

    Asked by Barb.

    • Answer Hi, Thanks so much for your question. We're quite sorry to hear about this issue with your washer and understand your concern. If you experience issues with the water temperature in your washer, please check the following: Check to ensure both the Hot and Cold water supply valves are turned on. Check to ensure the hot and cold water hose connections were not reversed when the hoses were connected onto the washer. The hose connections on the back of the washer are marked with letters "H" for HOT and "C" for COLD. Here are two videos about installing the water hoses on a washer. Check to ensure the proper temperature setting was selected: Check the household water heater to make sure it is delivering water at 90 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The HOT wash water temperature is the temperature of the house hot water supply when it reaches the washer. Check the water valve screen for a clog. One half of the water valve assembly can fail and only hot or cold water will come into the washer. Select the cold or hot temperature and if one or the other does not work the valve screen may be clogged. If the suggestions above do not take care of the situation, contact service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. Hope this helps. Mike@GEA

  • QuestionVery frustrating finding residue/ lint on clothes. What is the trick to solve this problem?

    Asked by Rushford2020.

    • Answer Hi there. Lint and residue could be due to incorrect sorting, washing too long, overloading, incorrect use of fabric softener, or the detergent not dissolving. Please follow the directions on the detergent and fabric softener packages as well as a slightly warmer water temperature. Additional troubleshooting can be found on page 25 of the user manual, which you can find via the Hotpoint website by searching the model number. Have a great day. -Gina@Hotpoint
