install the hp cd program it comes with. follow the instructions its very easy. i turned on the printer and let it self program. it does this when you first turn it on then it will ask you if you want to connect it to your wireless network and it will search for your network. when it does input your network password and your printer is set up on your home network. then i installed the hp cd the printer came with to my computer and its good to go it's as easy as that.

If by remote you mean not on the same wireless network, you have to setup an HPePrint account (free). Go to hpeprintcenter.com to set that up. You can customize the email and control the privacy settings.
