There is alot of good external HD out there but you should upgrade using a internal SSD, its easy and fast upgrade, and cheap also. If you want external HD anyway get one that connects with thunderbolt or usb-c I added a few products a recommend.. Goodluck

Please try again later.Buy an M.2 NVME for this laptop instead of an external hard drive because HP provides an extra slot to plug and play. 1TB can cost around $90-150 and 2TB can range from $210-400 depending on how fast you want it. If you don't care about speed or portability, I've tried a 2TB Seagate 5400rpm hard drive for $80 which is great for an external hard drive over USB3.
