I revise my prior answer. Outside of the box in which the laptop was packaged, but inside the larger box I found a plastic protective sleeve. Not sure why this one item was packaged separately from everything else which was inside the double box. This sleeve is made of padded plastic meant to look somewhat like leather and has a Velcro strip to keep it closed. In that sense, it is a bit of an upgrade from my 2016 Spextre X360 where the sleeve had one open end with no way to keep it closed other than how snugly the laptop fit in the sleeve.

HP's website sells some nice cases that should fit this laptop for very reasonable prices.
