It does hinge, they also include a thermal pad with it
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It may depend on the thickness of your NVMe SSD chipset and pad setup. My SSD doesn't make direct contact, but is very close. Insignia instructions places the thermal pad directly on the SSD, and as you've noted, since this is a slide in adapter, there has to be a little clearance to slide in. Using this adapter with a Samsung PM981a, I see maybe less than paper thickness space between the thermal pad and case. My temp at idle is around 25 °C, random use 30 °C, and continuous file transfer was around 40 °C, your use may differ.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The included thermal pad is nearly useless unless you have a very thick drive. I ended up using my own thicker thermal pads as the included one is something like 1.5mm thick, whereas with my drive I needed a 1.5mm pad on top of a 1mm pad in order to make contact.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are cloning an SSD to this one and worry about heat generated I recommend to clone with the SSD out of the case.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, this slides really well. I put a thermal pad on top of the m.2. I've had no trouble with heat or opening or closing.
