- Answer Hi! Happy to help! It can take up to 16 hours to fully charge the battery using only the hand crank. The purpose of the crank is not to fully charge the product, but to get enough charge in the battery to run the radio for weather announcements or charge a phone enough to make a call.

- Answer Hi, I'll be glad to assist! The Ion Audio Survival Scout is IPX4 water-resistant. The hand crank allows the speaker's battery to be charged by hand when connection to an outlet is not available.

QuestionDoes this speaker come with a cord for charging? Is solar and cranking the only methods to charge it? If there is a cord, how long does it take to charge by being plugged in?

- Answer It comes with a charger that has an attached cable that plugs into the back. Note, this unit uses a lead-acid battery -- not Lithium-ion -- so it is best to leave it on the charger when not in use. Most importantly, my unit came with a worn-out battery (probably sitting around too long in the box, discharging) so you need to check that the battery will hold a charge (full bars on front of radio after charging) when not on the charger immediately or consider returning. I got the unit on sale and wound up replacing my battery ($30 at Amazon) so ate the charge. It will take hours to recharge the battery normally.

- Answer Make sure it charges AS SOON AS YOU BUY IT! I purchased this speaker and it was defective, returned it and the replacement was ALSO DEFECTIVE, so make sure yours works because both the ones i got didn’t work so i cant tell you if its volume is good because mine didn't even turn on. So be careful!
