Hi! Happy to help! It can take up to 16 hours to fully charge the battery using only the hand crank. The purpose of the crank is not to fully charge the product, but to get enough charge in the battery to run the radio for weather announcements or charge a phone enough to make a call.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instruction manual states that you get 1% charge for every 10 minutes of hand cranking. However, that 1% probably translates into about 40 minutes of radio time. In an emergency situation when the power is out, the information is what counts not the percentage recharge. The battery has a huge capacity. Also, it has a solar panel on the top that requires 40 hours of sun for a full recharge. So you can use hand crank and solar in combo.
