My understanding is the "descale" is an indicator telling you it is time to clean the machine. I have never had that light up. To clean the machine I simply run a water/vinegar solution through the machine and then refill the water reservoir 4-5 times and run all that water straight through to clean up the leftover vinegar residue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Suzie and thank you for your inquiry. The K50 has a descale sensor which will light up when its time to descale. We recommend descaling your brewer every 3-6 months, depending upon your water source and usage. We suggest cleaning your brewer with the Keurig Descaling Solution or white vinegar. We hope this information helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no "descale" feature. As with most drip coffee makers the machine gets lime buildup from the water and needs to be cleaned periodically. All kinds of products will do it, but Keurig wants you to use theirs.
