So the design of the plastic is meant for the temperatures the machine brews at. Your average cup of coffee is 160-170*F right off the press. Plastic doesn’t melt until much hotter temperatures. Think of your plastic dishes/utensils around the house. If it will make you feel better then by all means use a metal one but these temps won’t even bother the reusable filter.
