• I do not know what exactly you mean by „true“ convention microwave, but yes it does microwave, convection and grill. So pretty versatile for smaller quantities if you do not want to switch on the big brother down under Best regards

• The microwave works as a traditional microwave, has a heating element to be used as an electric convection oven, and a "crisping" function that allows you to use included tray and uses heating element and microwaves at the same time to crisp foods. As an example we put in some frozen french fries in the crisping mode and they went from frozen to hot and crispy in 4 minutes. Neat feature.
