• A:Answer You can download the product from the website, and get a license code from them. But the best way to do it is buying the physical product outright. You can then do as many migrations as you want, along with a data erasing program included with it in case you are giving the old pc away (but don't want your sensitive files such as spreadsheets and your banking info to take the trip along with the computer!)

• A:Answer Research ‘PC Mover’ to do this. We recently bought two new PC’s and this program worked flawlessly. It was easy to install and operate. It will not move anything already installed so you don’t have to worry about duplicates. Do make sure if the new PC has trial versions of a licensed product that you use (like MS Office) that you delete the trial version or the product will not be moved. Their customer service is excellent if you have a problem. You can buy it at Best Buy or online. Online allows a discounted price to support two PC’s and this will only work on one specific PC per license. It moved all program authorizations including game history I had lost with past upgrades.

• A:Answer Yes, as long as both have the same communication interfaces. PCMover needs each Pc/ laptop to be able to talk to the other, It supports LAN (Ethernet) or WiFi (both machines connected to the same network), or direct connection using Ethernet to Ethernet or USB to USB. In either of the direct wire cases, you should be using a cable from LapLink or PC Mover. I used the earlier form of this software (LapLink) some 20 years ago, and used PCMover recently. They hvae excellent products and very good, live, support.
