A:AnswerWanted to answer for others that may have this question. Lenovo's answer is not accurate. After following all of Lenovo's instructions and suggestions, I was told I likely had a defective model and I went ahead and exchanged it for a new unit. However, just as the old one, the new unit got and stayed extremely hot at the bottom left immediately out of the box upon installing Windows updates. And when I say hot, I mean that at its worst, you CANNOT have it on your lap. Even when not at it's worst, the heat is quite uncomfortable and I find myself constantly trying to find ways to keep the bottom left off my legs. It has been about 30 minutes since installation and it is still very hot. The vent was not covered at any time. I wasted my time (and Lenovo and Best Buy money) exchanging units as the extreme heat is obviously an innate part of how this laptop runs. I searched the word "hot" in the reviews just now and found others noting the same issue. It's a shame because I'm quite picky and, even with some lagging/glitchiness occasionally and no HDMI port, I otherwise really like this laptop, particularly for the price when on sale. I will have to consider whether it is worth keeping knowing it will run so hot and require a lap desk if needed for lap use. I expect the heat will also decrease battery life over time (according to Lenovo's own information on factors that impact battery life). Buyer beware.

A:AnswerImee.... these newer solid state drive computers do not have an sd card reader port (Best buy sellsl USB card readers ($15.00 to $40.00) that would just plug into the USB on the computer. This computer also does not have a CD/DVD Drive. You can purchase an external USB connected DVD/CD player ($40.00 at Best Buy.) In addition to that, there is no Ethernet connection port. You will need Wi-Fi to use the internet or buy a USB Ethernet adapter ($25.00 at Best Buy.) These computers are really unbelievably fast and well made with a great high definition screen but it does not offer a large storage hard drive. If you have thousands of pictures and videos etc. ... You you will need more storage you can buy an external usb solid state hard drive (not terribly expensive) but for most applications it isn't necessary. Bottom line these are great computers for the price and Best Buy is an excellent place to buy it. They stand behind the sales with great pricing! I know because I purchased a new computer that crashed after 1 day. I returned it a few days later and with no questions asked they immediately gave me a brand new one, after I showed them it crashed and it failed to reboot.
A:AnswerYes. The Lenovo Yoga C740-15 has a 720p (HD) webcam built into the middle of the top bezel of the screen. This webcam has a manual Privacy Shutter built in. If there is a red dot over the webcam lens, the Privacy Shutter is closed and the webcam can not be operated. There is a small slider directly above the webcam lens. Slide the tab to the right to open the Privacy Shutter. When the red dot over the webcam lens disappears, the Privacy Shutter is open and the webcam is operational. A:AnswerYou are correct, the Lenovo Yoga C740-15, model number 81TD0005US, ships with a 3CELL_60.3WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 15 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are only getting 2 to 3 hours of battery life, first be sure that Battery Conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting is used only when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It prolongs overall battery life by charging the battery to only 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Additionally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a higher rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Also, be sure there are no programs running in the background on your computer that you don't want running. These background programs drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10.
