I have a 50" LG WiFi enabled smart LED TV. i have the LG sound bar as well. I have Direct TV and thus use the remote controls for this. the sound bar is connected via optical cable to the TV and not the cable box. When i push the power button on my Direct TV remote, the TV turns on and so do does the sound bar. I did not need to do or configure anything special via the TV or sound bar to make this happen; meaning having the Direct TV cable remote control the on/off and volume of the TV and soundbar in unison. I suspect that the sound bar simply detects when there is an optical signal present and turns on based on this. So if the TV goes on (and it is configured to use the optical out port), then it should turn on and off with the TV. In the TV's menu, there is an option for sound. Within this sound menu is an option to turn on the optical-out feature. I did this and i can now control the volume of the sound bar with either the TV's remote, the Direct TV's remote, or the sound bar's remote. But i just stick with the Direct TV remote since this controls the channel changing. Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This sound-bar does not have HDMI ports. It is compatible with most universal remote controls included with cable or satellite service. Your cable or satellite TV provider usually provides a guide for programming their remotes at time of installation. Service providers also provide instructions for programming their remotes on their websites.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no HDMI input on this unit. The optical out from the cable box can be connected to the sound bar using the optical cable included with the unit. As for using your TV remote to control the sound bar... probably not... unless your TV is also an LG. (Check the user manual from your TV) The included remote can be programmed to control the basic functions of your TV (channel up/down, volume, power, and mute).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the additional remote because I have no knowlede of how to pair the Cable remote to the sound bar. Some TV's are not Blue tooth compatible. There is usually a HDMI out on the back of the TV for Optical cord. But maybe if the same brand bar as TV would make it easier.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have my cable box going through the Hdmi on the TV and connected to the soundbar through an optical cable and it works fine. My tv is ARC compatible so I have the Blu Ray player through the soundbar to the tv and it works great. If your Tv is ARC compatible you should be able to shunt the cablebox through the soundbar as well.
