  • Questiondoes it have a removable lint filter?

    Asked by lynn.

    • Answer Hi Lynn. The LG - 2.3 cu.ft. 14-Cycle Front-Loading Compact Washer and 7-Cycle Dryer Combo with Steam, Model # WM3488HW is a ventless dryer so it does not need a filter. Any lint from the wash is expelled along with the drain water and the unit has a drain pump filter that catches any foreign objects that don't go through the filter. It is recommended that you check that filter periodically to ensure that it is not clogged...^IFV

  • QuestionCan this unit be installed under a countertop. I would like to remove a dishwasher and install this unit where it was located. The drain hose would have to connected to the drain assembly under the sink which is installed in a cabinet next to it.

    Asked by mag.

    • Answer The W x H x D dimensions for the LG - 2.3 cu.ft. 14-Cycle Front-Loading Compact Washer and 7-Cycle Dryer Combo with Steam - White, Model # WM3488HW are: 24" x 33 1/2" x 25 1/4" (45" D with door open). Standard Kitchen cabinets have a height of 34.5" (i.e. the toe kick has a height of 3.5" and the cabinet is 31" tall), so the height is not an issue. The width for kitchen cabinets will vary, but most dishwashers have a width of 23 3/4" to 24". This washer also has a width of 24". Kitchen cabinets have a depth of 24" and this is where the WM3488HW is different from dishwashers. Typically, dishwashers have a cabinet that has a depth of 24" so that it can sit flush within the kitchen cabinet and only the door handles will protrude past the kitchen cabinet. This washer has a cabinet that is 25.2" and the washer requires sufficient space in the back to allow for the waterline and for airflow around the unit (1" on the sides). So the washer will protrude past your cabinets more than a dishwasher does and you also will need 19.8 inches at the least in front of the unit so that the door can be opened...^IFV

  • QuestionCan this be plugged in to a normal house outlet and also Im moving into an apartment without washer and dryer hookups will it work with just a kitchen sink to run and drain the water from?

    Asked by Jared.

    • Answer The LG - 2.3 cu.ft. 14-Cycle Front-Loading Compact Washer and 7-Cycle Dryer Combo with Steam - White, Model # WM3488HW must be plugged into its' own dedicated standard, grounded, 3-prong outlet rated at 120V, protected by a 15 Amp time delay fuse or 15 Amp. circuit breaker, what you are referring to as a normal house outlet. The power outlet must be within 60 inches of either side of the washer. The drain hose should be properly secured with the supplied elbow bracket. The Hot and Cold inlet hoses have 3/4" connectors on them. Depending on the faucets you intend to connect them to, you may or may not need adapters. Check to ensure that your kitchen sink will be able to handle the drainage water so it does not overflow and flood your kitchen...^IFV

  • QuestionI just purchased this machine and so far am pleased. However, when drying there is a plastic/rubber smell. We live in a small apartment and the odor fills the space. Is there any way to get rid of this? We've used the dryer probably 5-6 x's since purchase

    Asked by cag.

    • Answer I've read a lot of comments on concerns about the smell the dryer leaves on clothes. Good news! I think I've found a solution, and I also live in an apartment. The first weekend I had the machine I washed about 4 or 5 loads. The rubber-like smell was very strong in-spite of using liquid fabric softener. I found something at the store, a product called Tide Washing Machine Cleaner. I opened one pouch, put it in the drum (NOT the soap dispenser), and set the washer to "Tub Clean" mode. As per the instructions on the cleaner, I left the door open to let it air out (overnight as it was late). There was still a slight rubbery smell along with the fragrance of the cleaner in the air. I ended up being gone last weekend, but this weekend (about two weeks later) I'm doing laundry and finding a marked difference in the amount of the rubber-like smell on my clothes. I'm still using liquid fabric softener with each load. My plan was to use the three packets of cleaner once a week for the first three weeks. (As recommended on the box for strong odors). Having missed last week, I plan to run another "Tub Clean" mode after my last load today. I really think this stuff might just be working. I've uploaded two pictures of the front and back of the box containing 3 packets of cleaner. I'll let you know if there's any change for the worse, but after today's loads I doubt there'll need be any other updates. -- The machine is still a strong 5-stars in my book.

  • QuestionHi I'm thinking about buying this washer dryer combo but I'm wondering what the drying time is. I hear that the combo is generally take a very long time to go through a wash and dry cycle. Can someone help me out here?

    Asked by Shadee.

    • Answer It turns out it varies according to the load and according to the setting. I have had it read four hours For the complete cycle down to two hours. The two hour cycle for washing and drying is comparable to my other machine. However, I don't have to go and take the wet laundry out and put it in the dryer. It turns out you can also interrupt the drying cycle and pull out whatever concerns you. If you don't let the whole cycle dry your clothes will be damp. Today I tried drying my very best clothes for 30 minutes on A low setting. They were wet. So I added another 30 minutes and they were still damp but I pulled them out and hung them. I have a friend who's daughter had the machine prior to children and loved it. When she had children she did not love it because of the drying cycle. There are just two of us And I don't just like it, I love it! I forgot to mention that the machine analyzes your load of wash and the setting you have chosen and determines the washing and drying cycle accordingly. It is pretty smart. For routine, non-expensive clothing I just to wash and dry. Pretty easy!

  • QuestionPlanning to install this in the kitchen of a small cabin. Can this be installed under a countertop? How much clearance space in the back is needed for hoses? How much space on the sides is needed? It would be going in between 2 cabinets. Thanks.

    Asked by kcarp.

    • Answer I have mine installed in the kitchen of my apartment under a countertop in a space about 24.75" W x 25" D x 34.75" H. I can tell you that it's recommended with more clearance space, but I haven't had any issues. This was a replacement of a previous, similarly sized machine. I WOULD MAKE TWO NOTES: 1.) The machine sticks out from the space about 3" at it's furthest point which is the door front (the actual top of the machine sticks out about 1" in the front from this space.) and 2.) You will need to purchase alternate intake water hoses with a 90º connection to the machine. The machine does come with two 5-ft hoses but they do not have that 90º connection needed for close quarters. I'd also recommend getting the woven steel covered hoses to resist kinking -- your number 1 enemy when attempting close quarter installation of washing machines.

  • Questioncan i fit it with 26 inches depth i know it is 25

    Asked by Marwan.

    • Answer Definitely not! Mine was just delivered today and the space is 28" and the doors to my laundry space will not close. You have to consider the drains and the door on the washer/dryer also curves out. It probably fits a 30" space minimum. I was disappointed that I have to now move my doors.

  • QuestionBeing a ventless dryer, and all lint is sent through the water drain, is this safe for septics?

    Asked by Debbie.

    • Answer Since the LG - 2.3 cu.ft. 14-Cycle Front-Loading Compact Washer and 7-Cycle Dryer Combo with Steam - White, Model # WM3488HW expels any lint from your laundry along with the drain water, it is recommended that you either install a lint filter on the washing machine water drain line to avoid sending lint into the septic tank and fields or install a greywater filter ahead of your drywell if you are using one to receive washing machine discharge waters...^IFV

  • QuestionDoes the dryer work like a regular dryer after was is done?

    Asked by Dee.

    • Answer The dryer of this unit is a ventless dryer. Basically the drum heats up as the clothes are tumbled. This causes the water on the clothes to evaporate and the machine collects this moisture and periodically pumps it out. So you will hear water sounds periodically throughout the drying cycle. The good part of this is there is no need for a vent. The downside is that it can take longer to dry clothes. I also recommend using liquid fabric softener as this method of drying can cause more wrinkles and the fabric softener will help them fall out with immediate removal at the end of the drying cycle and shaking (to a snap) the clothing.
