Hi Lynn. The LG - 2.3 cu.ft. 14-Cycle Front-Loading Compact Washer and 7-Cycle Dryer Combo with Steam, Model # WM3488HW is a ventless dryer so it does not need a filter. Any lint from the wash is expelled along with the drain water and the unit has a drain pump filter that catches any foreign objects that don't go through the filter. It is recommended that you check that filter periodically to ensure that it is not clogged...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You've probably already purchased this or another washer and/or dryer, but I thought I'd respond to your question so that others know what the deal is with this combo washer-dryer. Since this is ventless, there's no real lint trap. Lint catches in the rubber valve around the front door opening, and a minuscule amount may catch in the drain filter located at the bottom right of the machine. MOST of the lint, however, builds up in the guts of this machine, where it's difficult for the average user to access it. I've looked at thorough tutorials showing how one can remove the top panel from the machine to get at all of the built up lint, but since I have to have someone come investigate why my three-year-old machine suddenly smells of electrical heat/burning wires near where the water inlet valves are, I'll let the technician open the machine and clear out the lint. LG gives the consumer a false sense of security by suggesting that regular tub cleanings and regular drain filter cleanings are sufficient to keep the machine in good working order. The build up of lint where the user can't readily access ultimately results in a machine that takes upwards of six to eight hours to dry a normal load of laundry, and it may be what's causing the electrical heat smell in my machine, but I won't know that until after the technician comes to look at it. tl;dr - Don't purchase this washer-dryer unless you 1) are confident in your ability and possess the tools to open it up and clear the build up of lint from the guts of the machine, and 2) have plenty of space in which to work on your machine if necessary. tl;dr 2 - Do not recommend.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know that this is late in response, but after 2 years of operating this machine basically 2 times per week, it is sort of a mess. There is no lint trap, true... but there should be. The pump drain filter catches nothing even though you should empty it monthly. Not a problem. What IS a problem is that lint gets out into the room. And LOTS of it. It goes everywhere. The lint does NOT only go down the drain with the water, it is also expelled into room/rooms around... all over. I would not have bought this if there was a review stating that lint went all over the place. I did buy it because it said ventless. I will be replacing this as soon as I can. But, it does wash clothes really well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The lint catcher is in front at the bottom. After each load, unscrew the filter and check for build up; at the same time drain excess water out of the hose there as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A prior answer said to drain excess water out of the water pump - how do I do that? I’m disabled so it’s really hard to bend down to see everything. Is there a plug or something?
