When the monitor is laying on its side, the telescoping center piece will return to fully extended if you compress it down, however, once the monitor is in the upright position and set in place on a table or desk, it will stay in any position that you adjust it to because the weight of the monitor keeps it in postition.

You just lift up, push down and it stays in place due to weight of monitor.

First make sure that the monitor is attached to the stand and on a flat surface/table then move it up or down. The weight of the monitor, holds the "spring loaded stand height adjustment" at the desired height.

Just lift it up and push it down. It will stay wherever you place it. It is spring or hydraulic cylinder loaded to match the weight of the screen. Good sturdy stand, but the lowest it goes is 5 inches from the bottom of the screen to the surface it sits on. It raises 5 inches.

I am sorry the stand height is not adjustable. The angle of the screen can be adjusted forward or backward from -5° to 15° for a comfortable viewing experience. ^Daphane
