QuestionDoes this player require any other setup besides the language option and accepting the legalities? This player will not accept any discs and refuses to stay closed, even without a disc in the tray.

- Answer Take the disc out, reset it under settings, connect a Ethernet cable to a internet enabled router, and plug the player in and do an update. I seem to remember mine saying something about removing the disc to update it.

QuestionI have existing surround sound installed in my home. The blu Ray player that came with the surround sound system quit working. I’m needing a new blu Ray player that can be connected to my surround sound. Would this player be compatible?

- Answer This is an odd question. In the future, a few details would be helpful to the person answering. Your surround sound is most likely not dependent on any type of blu ray / dvd player. What you want to look for is how the current dvd player is hooked up to your surround sound. Is it hooked up to your TV and then all audio out from there? Is it hooked directly to your receiver? Either way, confirm what type of connection you have from your old player (optical/hdmi/rca/etc) and make sure this player has the same audio out and you will be fine.

- Answer I have 2 of these 4k blu-ray players. One for my living room which is connected to a LG 7.1 sound bar with Bluetooth wireless sub and surround speakers, and the other is in my theater connected to my Onkyo reciever/amplifier which supports 2 subs, 2 front towers, center channel, and rear surround speakers. Both of my setups have very high quality surround sound when playing a disk on this device. It also upscales DVD and tradition blu-ray disks very nicely.

QuestionIs the power cord adapter type or regular 2 prong? I purchased a Sony and Panasonic player and both had adapter which will not fit on my power strip.

- Answer The device does have a USB port. I does not come with a USB cable. This player can play video, audio and photo files contained in the disc or USB device. This player supports USB flash drive/external HDD formatted in FAT32 and NTFS when accessing files (music, photo, movie). ^Daphane

- Answer This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only BD-ROM or DVD discs labelled same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”. ^Daphane

- Answer The LG 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc™ Player, Model # UBK80 is not a region free player. However, when it comes to 4K discs, for some reason, manufacturers have decided not to code 4K discs by region so if you have a 4K movie title, it will play in the UBK80 regardless of what country the disc comes from...^IFV

- Answer It is fairly liberal about what regions it will play. I have not seen anything written anywhere that says that it is a region free player. I have had success playing some Japanese discs and some from the UK. That said I tried to play something recently from France and met with some resistance from the player claiming that it was unsupported. Unless you just need to have a region free player don't let that be a game changer. This is the best Optical Disc player I have ever owned. Buy one and you will be happy for years.
