As long as you don't have a loop in the drain from the washer you should be good. Mine is pretty high so I build pedestals high enough so my drain pipe won't retain any water. If you have sitting water it the pipe, sometimes this is what causes the smell in the washer. Always leave the washer door open when not in use.

Total height of the hose end should not exceed 96 inches (244.8 cm) from the bottom of the washer. ^Daphane
