Ft. 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1417GSR consists of an 18" Window Vent Panel that the flexible exhaust hose attaches to, 2 x 17" Extension Panels and a 9" Extension Panel. You can use just the 18" window vent panel alone or use it with a combination of the extension panels to install in in most vertical-sliding windows from 18" to 50" wide or in casement-style windows from 18" to 50" high...^IFV

QuestionDoes this portable AC require draining or does it have a auto ( or self)evaporation system?

- Answer The LG 500 Sq. Ft. 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1417GSR has a self-evaporative system, but whether it will need to be drained or how frequently it needs to be drained will depend on whether you are in an area of low humidity or in an area of high humidity or on what the humidity level or dew point index is on any given day. When the internal water collection tank gets full, "E5" appears on the display and the air conditioner will turn off until the internal water collection tank is emptied. IF you are inland in an area of low humidity, you may not have to empty the tank as frequently if at all as you would in a coastal are where humidity levels are high and the frequency of having to empty the internal water tank may be more more...^IFV

QuestionI would be using this in a space that has no windows. Would this not for for us? I’m in a salon suite that gets very warm and we have no windows.

- Answer Jules, Having a window is not required. HOWEVER, ventilation is required. The unit must have ventilation to operate properly. Good News: You can narrow your search to "Ventless" or "Ductless" Air conditioners. They are not as prevalent, but do exist. Remember, Research is much cheaper than buying something only to find out it will not work Brand Loyalty is a good thing, but research multiple units by multiple manufacturers and search for reviews until you narrow it down to the top three. Comparison shop between the three factoring in cost, longevity, warranty, functionality, and most importantly... will it suit your SPECIFIC needs? Happy shopping, Jeff

- Answer When the internal water collection tank for the LG 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and Dehumidifier Function with LCD Remote, Model # LP1417GSR gets full, 'E5' is shown on the display and the air conditioner will shut off and you will need to empty the tank then. The air conditioner has a self-evaporative system and will recycle the condensing water to cool the condenser. This helps to make the unit more energy efficient for you, but if you're not in an area of high humidity, it will reduce the frequency of having to empty the unit. ^CP

QuestionIs there a way to program an LG model LP1417WSRSW to turn on and off at specific times of day, on a continuous schedule. The remote that comes with the unit, doesn't seem to be able to do this, as there is no time clock feature,can I use a univ. Remote?

- Answer The LG 500 Sq. Ft. 115-Volt Portable AC w/ Dehumidifier Function, Model # LP1417GSR has a Timer function that can only be activated from the remote. You cannot program it to turn on/off on a continuous schedule and you can only set it to come on after your desired number of hours while the unit is off or to turn off after your desired number of hours while the unit is on. You can use the ▲/▼buttons to adjust the delay time from o to 24 hours in one-hour increments or decrements. You will find these instructions on page 11 of your owner's manual...^IFV

- Answer E5 means the internal tank needs to be drained. Move the unit to a place you can get at least a 2 pint container under the drain, remove the cover and drain.

It has an oval shaped diffuser on the end that attaches to the window vent panel so you can vent the air conditioner to the outside that has a diameter of about 6~6 1/2"...^IFV

- Answer Hi Cstar. The length of the flexible exhaust vent hose for the LG 500 Sq. Ft. 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1417GSR or for any other Portable Air Conditioner for that matter, is specially designed to the product's specifications and it cannot be lengthened, modified or replaced with your own longer hose as that would cause the unit to malfunction...^IFV

- Answer It can be use for multiple rooms however, you will need to uninstall it and re installed back together and find a window for it. Its better if is setup in one place.

- Answer The exhaust vent hose that is supplied as part of the Window Installation Kit that comes with the LG - 500 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner - Graphite model LP1417GSR is just shy of being 5 feet long. The connection for the exhaust hose is on the back of the unit. ^CP
