QuestionDoes the LG LW6017R have a drain? I don't see one and the installation instructions don't mention one. If there is no drain then how does the unit expel excess water?

- Answer This air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan. The fan has an outer ring that runs in the water that collects in the base pan if it gets deep. That condensate is then picked up by the fan and expelled through the condenser, making the air conditioner more efficient. ^CP

- Answer How far out the LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6017R will stick outside your window will depend on how deep your window sill is. The unit has a depth of 14 3/8" from front to back and the left and right frame guide panels that have the curtains attached that you pull the upper sash down behind are about 6 inches from the front so about 7" to 8" will stick outside the window...^IFV

- Answer Hi Mike. The top and side vents on the LG 260 Sq. Ft 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6017R are the vents through which air is drawn into the air conditioner and it is important that these vents are not covered up or obstructed in any way so the unit's cooling performance is not impaired in any way. The unit has a condenser in the back that expels any hot air through the rear vent so again, it is important that there are no obstructions in the back of the unit to prevent the heat from dissipating through the rear vent...^IFV

- Answer If you can't put holes anywhere to secure it, I always take a block of wood to wedge between the top of the window and the bottom of the top sill.

QuestionMy current window-mounted unit has a filter that slides out the side of the unit. The side of the window sill prevents me from taking the filter out and cleaning it! Does this Does unit have a drop front access to the filter?

- Answer The air filter for the LG 260 Sq. Ft. 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6017R is located behind the front grille. You can remove the air filter from the front grille by pulling the front grille forward then lifting the filter up from behind the front grille...^IFV

- Answer The unit itself is less than 20 inches. It can be installed in a 20 inch opening without the side panels. You will simple need to visit your local home center and purchase AC insulation material to fill from your window jam extension to the edge of the AC unit.

- Answer I purchased this model about 1-1/2 months ago. I also, at first, was a little concerned about the drain plug. I left the plug in but kept my eye on it to see if the drain water would be an issue. I haven’t had any at all. Inside the unit is what’s called a skinner fan which expels the condensation (I don’t know the technical aspects), but this model is made to not drip. It’s wonderful! In July I ran it for 2 solid days because of the heat — and didn’t have one drip. The very bottom of the unit (outside) collects the water and sometimes looks like it’s going to overflow; but it doesn’t. It’s been working great. I think we’re all trained that air conditioners drip; this one is made not to. It’s a great air conditioner and I just bought 2 more for the upstairs.

- Answer This unit is designed for installation in standard double hung windows with actual opening widths from 21" to 35". The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 12" from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. Thank you. ^Daphane

- Answer The openings on the top of the LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6017R should not be covered up or obstructed in any way. The internal components are shielded from inclement weather but if you are concerned about rain getting into the unit you can put an awning over the air conditioner...^IFV
