Hi. It will depend on the distance of the new building and your main wireless router. If the main router is too far, or the walls are too thick not to mention metal can interfere with Wi-Fi signal, the range extender may not be the solution. You may want to consider running an Ethernet connection from your main router to the new building.

I have a shed and outdoor patio and it was right at the edge of the range of my home wifi router. I bought this a couple of weeks ago. Plugged it in. I needed my cellphone and my router password and about 15 minutes later it was hooked up and working.
