Q: QuestionWhat is the difference in performance in the dual band versus tri band?

• A:Answer Hi. The Velop dual-band has a lower wireless technology, which is the AC1300 per node. While the tri-band is an AC2200 per node. But their speeds are almost same. Another difference is the coverage. While the Velop tri-band can cover an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 square feet, the Velop dual-band is only up to 4,000 to 4,500 square feet.

• A:Answer Our home is a 2400 square foot ranch. We have the main node close to one corner, another node closer to the center and a third node in the lower level. We have full coverage including to the garage camera.

Q: QuestionTrying to find a system that works in a house over 4000 sq feet. WiFi extenders didn’t work. Have a Spectrum WiFi router. What router is compatible w/Spectrum that I can use with mesh system. Do nodes just plug in? Will be used for iPads and phones only.

• A:Answer The great things about mesh WiFi systems is you can just keep adding nodes. You can have 2,5,8, whatever you need - then next node just needs to be withing range of the previous one. So even if you have a 10,000 sq ft home, you could have 10 nodes strategically placed all over!

• A:Answer Yes, I got this working with FIOS. There's some great tips and advice on reddit for setting up MESH WiFi with FiOS. You need to setup FiOS as a MOCA bridge. Q: QuestionI have a combined cable wirefi modem. I was looking to buy the 2-pack mesh wi-fi system. Can I use my wifi connection (in the cablemodem) to connect to the Linksys wireless or do they need to be directly connect? trying to determine if I need 2 or 3 pack.

• A:Answer At least one of the Linksys nodes will need to be directly connected to your cable modem in order to receive Internet access. All your other nodes from there wirelessly connect and do not require any type of ethernet connection. The Linksys app will help you along this type of set up as well. Also, Linksys has included concierge services to help you get your network up and running, 24/7 and free of charge.

Q: QuestionIs this product just a node that can be used as an "add on" to a Linksys Mesh Router? Or does this item need to be plugged in to modem and therefore is a router itself? If it is the actual router, does anyone know where I can purchase 1 node? THANKS

• A:Answer This is one node. You activate it via the Linksys app & a smart phone. The numbers AC1200, AC1800 etc refer to square foot coverage ie. signal strength. Single nodes are available through Best Buy or direct.

• A:Answer Good question :-) Only one would simply act like a wireless router. But if you added more they would communicate with each other and improve overall connection through your whole house.

• A:Answer I would advise running your cable modem to the unit and then to your router. I originally went from my modem to my router and then the unit and kept having issues with connectivity.

• A:Answer In our area, we have Windstream, and we have fiber to the house at that. What happens is that we also have Cat6 ethernet cabling in the house. The only thing the tech did was make sure that the cabling that was coming from outside the house was properly terminated, and then that simply plugged into the bottom of one of my Velop nodes. Then, we simply set up for PPPoE (username and password), and I was good to go. It was extremely simple to set up and completely removed the need for us to use any other modem for signaling.

Q: QuestionMy provider just converted to fiber optic and eliminated the need for a modem. Will this system still work? also I am confused about something. Does this require connecting to an existing router or are these nodes routers themselves?

Q: QuestionMy internet provider eliminated my modem when they switched to fiber optic. their connection is plugged into my router. Do I plug one of the nodes into my router or do I plug the internet provider wire into the node? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• A:Answer Hi. If the connection uses and Ethernet (RJ45) cable, then you can plug it directly into the Velop system. Alternatively, you can also just add the Velop system to your existing router.

• A:Answer You can use this system as it is backward compatible as most systems today are. Compatibility from Linksys' website... 802.11a 802.11g 802.11n 802.11ac 802.11b Each node is the same. It has 2 ethernet ports on the back. If you use a wired setup such as in an office, then you can use these ports one input and one output. If you are using as a wifi connected setup only, I have found that only the 1st (connected) node works for plugging other things into it.

Q: QuestionI am interested to see if this can plug directly into Frontier's router as a connected device for the purpose of being my main network or if I need to configure the Frontier router as a gateway? Also does this device have a built in VPN?

• A:Answer I connected one pod to my router (Infinite internet) physically. Using the app you can set up an acct for your pods and connect directly to the pod for enhanced connection. I can still use my router connection but the pod makes the connection stronger so I use that as my main connection. Hope that helps?! I don't remember if I had the option of VPN but there is a guest option.

• A:Answer We were looking to increase our WiFi as we wanted to increase our streaming reliability. After moving to fiber optic supplier, we added/increased our Linksys network to include one Linksys module per floor (2 on main floor, 1 in upstairs bedroom, and 1 in basement). Not having a smart TV, the upgraded network seemed to work for streaming/ viewing.

• A:Answer This system will connect to any modem, in this case since your modem is not also a router, it is straight forward. Just set up the first Velop unit and plug it directly into the router yellow port. Probably will need to reboot the modem and the router but it will work. Although I have a different brand modem, the setup is the same.
