The K800 keyboard functions while plugged in recharging. You can NOT remove the rechargeable battery on the latest model.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, the USB cable that is included with the K800 is for charging the keyboard, not for data transfer. The keyboard connects to the computer via the Unifying Receiver, so you will not be able to use it in a "wired" capacity.

It uses a dongle attached to a USB port extension cable to keep it in proximity for wireless function. The battery is internal, non-removable, and charges via USB. It has an auto-off function and uses battery very sparingly. I've used it for a year now without any problems related to charging.
