If you are using the bluetooth for the laptop I believe that is correct if you have it wired in then both are taken into account for instance my desktop is wired in and the volume on my desktop and the volume of the puck both work and are additive.

Please try again later.Hello toddc, Not knowing what you've read and the context, volume level is controlled first by whatever application that you're using on your laptop to view the video and then on the device you're using. For example, if you're watching a YouTube video on your laptop there's a volume control on the video itself and then you have the volume on your laptop. When you connect the Z407, you can now select this is your audio output device. Right click on the volume icon found in the right corner of your PC laptop and this will allow you to select your audio output source. Hope I didn't confuse you further. - Richard from Logitech
