A:AnswerThe device works as if you were using an Alexa stick. So it has several apps you can use on it. You link your Messenger and/or Whatsapp contacts to the device by logging in to your accounts and then make video or audio calls by clicking on your contact. The camera on the device zooms in our out to get the best video and has great speakers so you don't have to be too close to the device.
A:AnswerIt connects to Alexa. So you can view any camera that is set up on Alexa. Although i don't think it'll show doorbell camera automatically when someone is at the door.
A:AnswerThis should work with any TV with an HDMI. My Parents TV only had 2 HDMI ports that were in use, so I also bought a cheap 'manual' HDMI splitter off of Amazon for $18. This was much easier for my father to navigate - 1 less remote. You will need to set up a Facebook account for each person wanting to connect. - I did this for my parents and manage the account. I also set up the Portal TV in their location and tested it using my iPhone to connect. My parents use the Facebook portal TV and I use my iPhone/iPad/or my own recently purchased Portal TV to connect with them. Either myself or my parents can start a video chat with this. The remote is also very close to an Amazon Firestick which my parent already used, so they adapted to it well. This is honestly the best purchase I have made regarding connecting simply with long distance relatives. I researched and tried a fe other solutions without success. The best thing is that my parents were already used to interacting with their big 65" TV and this is really an extension of that concept, not something new tech wise which they were resistant to. An unexpected benefit was that I used my iPhone on a tripod (and wireless earbuds-too noisy in the gym) to stream my daughters entire volleyball season of matches to them. They thought it was amazing watching their granddaughter play on the 65" tv in their home with giving play by play announcements and scoring updates!
A:AnswerYes... I use mine for mostly Zoom meeting like 2 times a week and I do make a lot of what apps calls using this little guy. No need to purchase another one, unless you want to.
A:AnswerYes. Mine came with a regular SMPS ("switcher") wall power supply, which can handle 100-250V, 50/60 Hz. So, for most European countries, Germany included, you'd just need a plug adapter. Or, a bit safer, any other "local" 12V/2A supply, like those used for routers etc.
A:AnswerHello, Portal devices are officially supported in some European countries. We recommend reviewing the official Portal website to confirm which countries they are available in. Thank you.
A:AnswerHey there! Sorry to hear about the power cable on your Portal. Please reach out to the Portal Support Team via the Portal website and they would be happy to look into what options are available for you. Thanks!
