A:Answer Yes, it will work, but be advised that Optimum does not support it. It means that any support you get is based on the good or bad nature of the Optimum technician you get on the line. Official Optimum approved modems are available from their store. They all support their own VoIP telephony solution. I did not want a modem with an additional potential failure point. Once Optimum registers your modem you can no longer access your settings. They have to do it. There are some secondary lists out there of non-VoIP Modems at various times approved by Optimum, however with new ownership and changing policies, I would call and confirm any candidates for a self purchased modem that you are considering. I myself am using the MD7621 with Optimum. I got a technician who researched it, called me back, and registered it with my subscription to their 300 Mbps service. I am happy with the connectivity I have with all of my smart-home devices and the MD7621, but the experience of not renting from them has not been perfect and I still have slow re-connection when the signal is lost once to three times a day. I'm sure they are deliberately shedding connections to increase system-wide bandwidth.
