Q: QuestionMax w or max p?

• A:Answer I have the same question and have not been able to find out a definitive answer. In their specs page for this configuration GE66 10UG-039 MSI just say "NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 Laptop GPU". That's the same thing they say for the 3060 and 3080 models of the GE66 and GS66 this year. In previous years, when their laptop was using Max-Q versions, their specs page would say so. But this year I don't find any mention of Max-Q on the specs pages for their 2021 RTX30 series machines. So I don't know if that means everything is using Max-P or their specs are just listed incomplete. I have seen a couple of you tubers and a couple of other retailers mention that some of the MSI models including GE66 are Max-Q but I have not seen any confirmation one way or the other. It's very disappointing that this information does not seem to be consistently available. I'm honestly not sure we will know until we either buy the machine and see, or if a tech reviewer is able to get one first and tell us. Q: QuestionI have two question. Does this model have 6GB or 8 GB of video memory? Researching MSI laptops I find some have 6 and others have 8. Does anyone think this laptop would be capable of running Flight Simulator (2020) at Max setting 60 FPS?

• A:Answer This model has a 3070 card which comes with 8GB VRAM. For the other 3000 series cards in other models, the 3060 has 6GB VRAM and the 3080 comes in 8GB and 16GB VRAM variants. Here is MSI's specs page for the 4 variants they are currently offering of the GE66 with 3000 series card. • A:Answer The LED bar turns off if you dont want to use it. There is no version of this laptop specifically without the led bar. The gs66 might be a better option for you if not wanting led bar

• A:Answer I just got this laptop, and I can confirm that the HDMI port is HDMI 2.1. I am able to get 4k 120hz with HDR on through the HDMI port on my LG CX.

• A:Answer Yes, it can be upgraded up to 64Gigs but you only have two slots so you would want to purchase 2 32Gig chips. There's also an empty slot to add and additional data space or you can replace the existing hard drive with a larger size.

Q: QuestionI would like to know why would people buy this MSI $2K+ Lap-gaming. What is so special about this Laptop. If it has a old CPU Intel i7 10th gen. Instead of buying one that has the new i7 11th gen or even a AMD RyZen 9 4th gen. Am I missing something here.

• A:Answer I'd say the GE66 is special because it's a good build quality laptop with a higher power 3070. No more Max-Q and Max-P naming this gen, so you have to check each laptop to see how many watts of power they're allowing to the GPU. For the processor, as of right now the only 11th gen Intel processors released in laptops are the 4 core variants. Maybe another month or so for the higher core count 11th gen to show up? But I don't know if 11th gen is really going to give you anything more than 10th gen. Maybe higher boosts at the expense of higher voltages/temps? Ryzen I agree would be better here. But Ryzen laptops are in short supply, if this came with the Ryzen chip I'd expect it to be much harder to get. And if the focus is solely on gaming, the difference between Intel 10th gen and Ryzen I think is not all that much. Productivity though, Ryzen wins for sure.

Q: QuestionThe title for the laptop says that is has a 240hz screen and an Intel Core i7, but in the "from the manufacturer" page, it says that it has a 300hz screen, and an Intel Core i9. So... which one is it?

• A:Answer This is the i7-10750H with 240Hz screen. The one with the i9-10850H CPU and 300Hz screen is about $200 more when last I looked. At least this one has the 130watt power boosted version of the RTX 3070. It's a solid performer, well built, and runs cool even with CPU and GPU both running over 85-90% max.

Q: QuestionMSI shows the GE66 with the 3070 as having a 300hz screen. However this item says it has a 240hz screen. Why is that? And what else is different from the official GE66 specs from MSI?

• A:Answer You are not looking at the correct model on the site. Make sure you are looking at the 10UG-039 all the way to the right (scroll if needed) and it shows 240hz.

• A:Answer I tried it on my C9, the GPU could manage 63 FPS average at 4k with low-medium settings (geforce experience optimize). Geforce Experience set it to 4k 60 HZ V-synch, but Shadow of the Tomb Raider settings said 120 Hz. https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GE66-Raider-10UX/Specification
