Just plug it in a receptacle near the wireless router. Then press the "wifi" button on the wireless router. The extender will find your router.

I did have to call my cable company to get the technician to remotely access the router and unlock the ability for the router to recognize the extender. It now works perfectly.(Our router is property of our cable company and I forgot how to access it so I had to call)

I used my cell phone to hook it up Just go to settings & look for the net gear code it gives you & enter the code from your modem you will need that code to put in on anything you are trying to use with the extender
