The Netgear AX1800 is a router that you purchase on your own. It does not replace the modem or router/modem you are renting from your internet service provider. If you are not using your ISP as your phone company, too you can replace the modem/router you are renting from your ISP. In that case you will have to purchase a modem as well as a router. There are combined modem/router products that you can purchase as a single component. I have always preferred to keep the components separate as the router technology advances more rapidly than the cable modem technology. I have a Netgear AX1800 Wifi router connected to a Netgear CM700 (DOCSIS3.0) modem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don’t have to pay monthly it’s just a router. That being said they offer extras for 59.99 a month. The extras are security and a 24/7 help line
