A:AnswerI don't know if I can give you a hard number, all I can tell you is what we have on our home network, and all work well with faster speeds (we subscribe to Comcast) and better range over our prior router a Netgear 6300 (a good router as well)
Along with home-based business with two computers, and two wireless printers; we have four tablets, four smart phones, smart TV, three laptops, and a smart thermostat. We let the router choose the best band for each except on our tablets which we configured for 5G.
A:AnswerInside my my neighbors house 3 bars. Thats about 65 feet and 3 walls. Make sure the router you use is above your pc and not in line with lets say a flat screen tv or huge mirror in the direction you most want to use it. What I still like about this unit is ease of use and compatibility with old and new device wifi security capabilities.
A:AnswerYES! This was one of our issues. We have the Xfinity X1 platform. The modem/router combo provided by Comcast, couldn't handle all the devices in our home. Soon as we hooked up the Nighthawk, ALL problems solved!!
A:AnswerI had the same exact issue. I also work from home and need a constant signal to download, upload, and view high resolution videos and photographs. The Nighthawk resolved all of my issues and actually extended the signal to several feet away from my property.
You wont be disappointed.
PS: my WiFi speeds are identical to those when connected via Ethernet.
A:AnswerNo you can't use this by itself. You also need a cable modem box. This Nighthawk unit is only a wireless router, and a great one at that. Your rental box modem should work fine with this, just plug it in and follow easy setup instructions that come with it. But why lease a modem from the cable company, if you are spending money on a good wireless router, when you can also buy a great modem for $100 or less.
A:Answerif your actually talking about the old DSL protocols then this would be a waste of money as you will never get what it is designed to do.. If your referring to the more modern type DSl/Fiber like Uverse or Verizon I cannot speak for Verizon but for Uverse Max 45 MB internet (all that is available to me in my area) I have no issues with speed etc. wifi speed test on my desktop with 10/100/1000 wireless l peak around 42 -47 MB hard wired I peak 46 - 48 MB . This router will not boost the speed your paying for so if you have 16 MB internet that is pretty much where you will be in most cases.

A:AnswerIf that modem is a wireless router, then you will have to disable it and then connect to this product. If it doesn't you just run cable from port 1 into this product
A:AnswerThis will work with FiOS - there two conditions:
1. You will need a CAT5e or CAT6 cable from the ONT (Outside Network Terminus) to the router.
2. If coax cable (RG6) is used from the ONT, to the FiOS router, the FiOS router will need to be used as a "bridge" and advanced configuration will be required.
If you are planning on ditching your ISP hardware, make sure they are capable of supplying a CAT5 / CAT6 ethernet connection from the ONT to your router location, or you will be required to set up the supplied modem/router as a bridge. This usually will require assistance from the ISP to configure and they may be reluctant to help, knowing it will cut into their profit margin. If you are going to keep the "cable boxes" attached to your TV's for content you will need to have the FiOS router attached to the Nighthawk on an ethernet (LAN) port so the boxes will be able to use "Guides" and "On Demand" services.
If you are lucky to have a CAT5 / CAT6 connection,. and are going to stream all your content from the internet via ROKU or similar then all you need to do is remove the FiOS router and cable boxes, connect the inbound CAT5 / CAT6 to the Nighthawk "WAN" port, power it on and wait for the lights to indicate it is ready to go... Log into the router web page and verify it has internet access (ISP supplied IP, SUBNET and DNS servers), configure your streaming devices and you are good to go.
My Frontier FiOS connection already is set up for Ethernet vs. COAX so I was one of the lucky ones. I am planning on ditching all the FiOS hardware and streaming Netflix to two smart LCD tv sets, turning them into "monitors". I have 4 notebooks and 3 cell phones on the wireless side, one Xbox 360 and 12 computers on the hardwired side now and and the FiOS router's limited "N" wireless is just not holding up... I am looking forward to this Nighthawk being more than capable to improve both the wireless connections on regular "N" devices and my new "AC" devices (Lenovo Yoga, Galaxy S7 and my Acer Iconia).
I hope this has been helpful.

A:AnswerYou are limited by the max speed of the network and what both devices can connect at. If you have n spec and ac spec equipment the router will slow down to n speed. If all ac spec you are still limited by the slowest connecting device. Expectedly you will top out less than 750 Mbps, until the next generation of Wi-Fi equipment. As the output is theoretical max not real world testing. But the better equipment gives better range/ higher speeds and has better handling of multiple clients to improve speed.
A:AnswerIt certainly solved my problem getting a strong signal from my basement office to our TV room on the 2nd floor. Our home is only 2800 square feet though.
A:AnswerIn order to use this as your wifi router you can do one of two things.
1. If you have Fios TV service you need to keep your verizon router intact as it provides MOCA internet to your set top boxes. While there are adapters that you can use to get this signal to the set top boxes its far easier to keep the fios router intact. Connect the new router and turn off the DHCP server making it basically a wireless access point. Turn off the WIFI portion of the fios router by logging into its admin panel. The password is on the sticker on the side of the modem. This will make the verizon router the DHCP server for ethernet and boca only and the Nighthawk the wifi access point.
2. If you don't have FIOS TV service you can connect the new NIghtHawk Router Directly to the ONT outside or in your garage with a ethernet cable. Avoiding the MOCA and the Coax all together. ITs a bit tricky as you have to release the IP from the the fios router. Immediately disconnect the fios router from the network. Connect the new router and it will grab the external IP and you will be all set. With the switch to Fronteir things have been a little more complicated getting support so I would defiantly have your game plan and do some research before doing anything to your service right now.
A:AnswerIm no expert but i had a similar issue at my house but through comcast. I was advised to shut the wireless function off if the modem and to run it exclusively through a router. I did this with the tri-band router and all the troubles have disappeared.hope this helps but i would check with your provider on their capabilities.
A:AnswerI have yet to encounter any buffering on Netflix or Vudu when it was so bad before sometimes my movies wouldn't play. Of course, you need to check the speed of your internet too!
A:AnswerYes, and you'll be as happy as I'm now :) I replaced Airport Extreme with X6 and now have my full 100 Mbps (instead of 50 with Airport Extreme)
A:AnswerI bought this and I also have three canary security cameras, wemo plugs, two cell phones on wifi, two laptops, and direct TV all hooked up to the wifi. There are three separate wifi bands available and I have the above items split amongst them so it does work great! It solved my problem of having slow wifi with all the items that were linked to the old one band of wifi. I hope this helps you.
A:AnswerYes, this will work with Cincinnati Bell Fioptics. The modems are generally suggested by the service company and by contacting customer service, modems can be recommended based on what modems the company is working with.
A:AnswerAl, Hope you already made a decision, but I replaced my Comcast router with a Motorola surfboard and still use Comcast as my ISP and it is working very well. I don't pay any rental costs and now get all of my content through my Apple III TV and my Fire stick.
