    Asked by Chili28.

    • Answer No, the Nikon D5100 DSLR camera is not compatible with AF-P type lenses. Compatible lens types for this camera body are AF-S and newer E-type lenses. AI and AF-type lenses can also be used but must be manually focused as this camera body does not have a built-in auto focus motor.

  • Questionwould this lens be compatible with a d7200?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Yes, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens is compatible with the D7200. However, when used on the D7200 the Vibration Reduction (VR) in the lens can not be disabled. The manual focus ring on the lens can also not be disabled, so the ring can be moved when the D7200 is in autofocus mode. For more information please contact Nikon Support at 1-800-NikonUS.

  • QuestionWill this work with my Nikon D800?

    Asked by D800.

    • Answer Yes, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR (Product 20067) Lens is compatible with the D800. Support for AF-P DX type lenses was added to D800 firmware version A/B 1.11. Because the D800 does not have a menu option to turn optical VR on or off, the VR in the lens cannot be disabled when used on this camera. Additionally, while this lens is compatible, it's important to note that this is a DX format lenses and therefore optimized for use on DSLRs with the smaller DX sensor. A DX lens does not transmit enough light to fill the entire FX sensor in the D800. The D800 will automatically will switch over to DX Crop Mode when a DX lens is attached. In DX crop mode the D800’s largest available Image Size is reduced to 4,800 x 3,200 (approx. 15.3MP). A more suitable wide-angle zoom for the D800's high resolution FX sensor would be the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR Lens (Product 2182). The most recent D800 firmware, along with instructions on updating the camera's firmware, can be found here: http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/download/fw/263.html .

  • QuestionWill this lens work with Nikon D7000? Thanks

    Asked by DW.

    • Answer No. The Nikon D7000 DSLR camera is not compatible with AF-P lenses. Compatible lens types that can be used fully with this camera body are AI, AF, AF-S and newer E-type lenses. For something similar in angle and range check out the Nikon AF-S Zoom NIKKOR 17-35mm f/2.8D. Another great choice for a wide-angle lens would be the Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.4 E, which has a super fast aperture, making it an excellent prime lens for low light situations.

  • QuestionIs this lens compatible with Nikon D90? Would it work well for real estate photography?

    Asked by beachrose.

    • Answer Nikon’s AF-P lenses, including the 10-20, are only compatible with newer Nikon DSLR cameras (eg D500, D7500, D3400 etc). They are not compatible with the D90. As to using the 10-20 for real estate photography, it would be a good choice for daylight outdoors probably not as good for indoors because of the 4.5-5.6 maximum aperture.

  • QuestionIs this lens compatible with a D7100 Nikon

    Asked by Jenny.

    • Answer While the lens is compatible with the D7100, it does have some limitations. One limitation is that the VR will default to ON when used with the Nikon D7100 camera as there is no switch on the lens barrel to turn it on or off. Another limitation is that the focus ring on the lens cannot be disabled when in autofocus mode on this camera. To learn more please contact Nikon Support.

  • QuestionIs this lens compatible with Nikon D600?

    Asked by Gwen.

    • Answer AF-P lenses like this AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Wide-Angle Zoom Lens can be used on the D600 if the camera's firmware is updated to version C: 1.03. Older D600 firmware versions do not support AF-P lenses. The updated firmware, along with instructions on updating your camera's firmware, can be found here: http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/13/D600.html . It is also important to note that this is a DX format lens and is optimized for use on DSLRs with the smaller DX sensor. When a DX lens is used on an FX body like the D600 the camera will switch over to the DX Cope Mode Image Size, which will result in a lower resolution image.

  • QuestionWhat are the limitations if use on a D5200?

    Asked by Moncho.

    • Answer When the AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens is used on the D5200 is it not possible to disable the Vibration Reduction (VR) in the lens. There is also no option in the camera menu to disable the lens focus ring, so when you are using autofocus the focus ring can still be rotated. In addition if the camera's standby timer expires, the lens will reset its focus position and will need to be re-focused.

  • QuestionI should know this but just need reassurances - will this lens will work with a D5300? Much thanks.

    Asked by D5300.

    • Answer Yes, the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Wide-Angle Zoom lens will work with the Nikon D5300 DSLR camera, however, the focus ring on this lens cannot be disabled when used with this camera model, even with a firmware update. This means that the lens can continue to be manually focused using the focus ring even when in autofocus mode. This lens is compatible with the Nikon D5300 and VR options are available with firmware update of 1.01 and higher.
