There is no hot plate. Since the carafe keeps the coffee warm much longer than it takes to consume the contents, a hot plate is not necessary. The advantage being there is no hot plate to unintentionally place your hand on. Great purchase, great coffee - we love it!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This does not have a hot plate. Apparently the carafe is supposed to keep coffee hot. The carafe unfortunately does not. Coffee comes out warm and is cold within 5 minutes. Huge disappointment.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does not. It relies on the thermal carafe to keep the coffee warm, which it can for over an hour easily. Personally, I like the metal carafe as it'll be more durable and the safety of not having an exposed hot plate.
