1st-Goto your tv settings. Goto sound and make sure hdmi is selected and not tv speakers or optical. 2nd-Make sure you run the cable thru the arc(audio return channel) hdmi port and not a regular hdmi port. Hopefully your tv has one. Use a premium hdmi cable and not a cheap one because it will short if using arc hdmi. 3rd-Make sure you do the initial setup thru the receiver and that you configure your surround setup properly (i.e. speaker configuration).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On the receiver go into the Setup menu and select Hardware. Then press Enter on HDMI and turn HDMI CEC On. With HDMI CEC on Audio Return Channel will be set to auto. If the HDMI cable supports ARC and ARC is enabled on the TV the you should get sound form the TV on the receiver.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Enable ARC setting on the TV and Receiver. If your TV does not have ARC, you must use a digital coax or SPDFI cable in order to get surround sound. On Roku TV make sure to go into audio settings and choose AUTO sorround mode.
