In most cases yes... Ooma calls it "Porting" you old number. My previous service was CenturyLink. When you set up your Ooma, you select a temporary number from what I thought was a fairly wide range of available numbers. You can then put in a request to port your old number. In my case, the whole operation, from request to when my old number was active on the Ooma was about a week, but they warn that it could be 3 to 4 weeks. There is a cost for this, however. You can choose to prepay for a year of their premium service for about $120 and they will port your old number for free. Or you can choose to pay about $40 to just port the number and stay with their basic service (which is free, except for taxes, which are about $5 per month). I hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I spoke with Ooma directly. Customer service told me that MOST existing phone numbers can be kept. That process is called "Porting" and all phone carriers refer to the word "Porting" from old carrier to new carrier. To know ahead of time if your old number can be ported, visit (ooma.com) where you can type in your old number & it will tell you immediately if they can port it or not. There is about a $40.00 fee to keep/port each existing number, otherwise you can get a new number free and it's a faster setup. Ooma will port your number (s). They will tell you when they are completed. The next step is for you to call your carrier and tell them to cancel your phone service because you've gone to another carrier who has already ported your number (s) to their company.
